AQ Index |
About this appThis is a free and simple application that displays the current value of the Air Quality index. It works on the tablets, phones and smartphones that are connected to the Internet. At first, it gets the local coordinates (latitude and longitude) from your device's GPS and then retrieves the AQ index from an Internet server (aqicn.org). The value of this index represents the air pollution level at your location (given by the closest station in your city). This index is computed every hour and includes the measurements of all known pollutants (PM 2.5, PM10, NO2, CO, SO2, O3). |

How it worksOnce the application starts, the AQ index for your current location is displayed within a few seconds. A tap on the blue label shows more pollution data on a new page, including the station and time of the readings. Also, there are two important weblinks: Details - the upper link, which offers you Historical, Real-time, and Forecast Air Pollution Data, and the bottom link (the name of the organization), which sends you directly to the data provider. If your location changed since the last reading, it can be updated by pressing the GPS button (the left side); otherwise, the AQ index corresponds to the previously stored location. Second button (Magnifier) opens a search page; there you can enter a few letters of a city, tap on Search and then select its name from the list. When you go back to the main page, the new AQI and the name of the city will be displayed shortly. The next button Plays the index value in English (text to speech), while the button from the right shows all our apps listed on the Google Play store. |
